The Frightened City

Sean has quite a big role in this gangster thriller, as Paddy Damion, a tough crook (with an eye for the ladies)
who was employed by Alfred Marks to collect money from clubs and cafes in a protection scheme masterminded by a
corrupt financier Herbert Lom. Damion is a complex, tragic figure, with confused scruples and a mixed sense of
right and wrong. It was filmed on a eight week shoot at Shepperton studios, and on location in London's Soho with
its strip clubs, nightclubs and jazz clubs. Despite some decent performances by Sean and Lom, the film did not
do well and was overshadowed by Sean's presence in the TV production of Anna Karenina. Directed by John Lemont
