The Hill

The Hill is about a group of prisoners rebelling against the harsh discipline of the British Military stockade in North Africa during the second world war. The men in the stockade were heroes, but imprisones largely for failing to obey the orders of some daft officers. Their spirit had to be broken before they could become soldiers again, and the central feature of this mental and physical torture was a large hill of sand and rock where the prisoners were forced to undertake at the double, in full kit and in the boiling sun. Sean plays Joe Roberts, one of the prisoners who recieves severe treatment from the staff seargent. Fiilmed in the spanish desert, where half the cast went down with dysentry, The Hill was chosen as the British entry for the 1965 Cannes Film festival, and is the first film that Sean went without his toupee!
